Sequoia welcomes Sam Cryan to the position of US West Coast Sales Engineer!
Sam grew up in North Carolina before moving around the country to pursue his education. He studied Geoscience at Princeton University, earning his BS in 2022, and then moved to Seattle to obtain his MS in Oceanography from the University of Washington in 2024. Since arriving in the Pacific Northwest, he’s found it impossible to leave, captivated by the region’s natural beauty and proximity to the ocean.
Sam’s passion for the ocean extends beyond his studies. He volunteers with the National Ocean Science Bowl and teaches Introduction to Oceanography part-time at Bellevue College. Known for always having a fun ocean fact to share, he thrives on learning about the latest marine research. His practical experience includes two research cruises, where he utilized equipment similar to what Sequoia offers.
When he’s not immersed in oceanography, Sam enjoys exploring the trails of the PNW, playing board games, organizing Seattle-wide puzzle events, and maintaining his NYT Crossword and Connections streak. He is thrilled to join the Sequoia team and looks forward to helping bring Sequoia’s instruments to a broader audience.
