Integration of high accuracy conductivity and temperature measurements with the LISST-100X
Integration of high accuracy conductivity and temperature measurements with the LISST-100X
[Sequoia, April 18, 2008; this article is based on Application Note L004]
As an option, the LISST-100X can be interfaced with a number of external sensors such as a Sea-Bird MicroCat CTD, a Campbell OBS 3+, or a Turner Designs Cyclops-7 fluorometer. The data stream from the sensors are embedded in the LISST-100X data file. In the case of the MicroCat, the temperature and depth data from the LISST-100X (data elements 37, 38) are replaced with the temperature and depth data from the MicroCat, and the conductivity data are stored in the auxiliary data element (#35). In the case of the OBS 3+ or the Turner Designs Cyclops-7, the data are stored in the auxiliary element (#35).
In order to interface the LISST-100X and the external sensor a new connector endcap is required. Therefore the instrument must be returned to Sequoia for this modification – please contact us for price and additional information. The processing of the LISST size distributions by the Windows software is unaffected by the changes. Since the data is transferred digitally there is no loss in performance of the external sensor.
Sequoia no longer supports the integration of external sensors on the LISST-100, only the LISST-100X.
