PiE 2025 will take place Wednesday – Friday 17 – 19th September 2025, with an icebreaker Tuesday evening 16th September 2025.
Who?
PiE 2025 is co-organized by Sequoia Scientific, Inc., Flanders Marine Institute, Flanders Hydralics and Institute of Natural Sciences.
Where?
PiE 2025 will be held in the main building of VLIZ in Ostend, Belgium.
Who Should Attend PiE?
PiE brings together some of the world’s experts in measuring and monitoring particles in water. The presentations are not limited to specific technology or field of study. Anybody interested in measuring, monitoring, modeling or managing particles in oceans, rivers, lakes, storm water, streams and ice may attend: Researchers, students, environmental officials, government employees, and monitoring agencies should attend the meeting. Broadly, examples of topics of interest are:
- Marine and hydrological sediment transport
- Biological studies
- Maintenance and Contaminated-Sediment Dredging
- River and Reservoir sedimentation
- Particle Measurement technologies
- Optics/Acoustics of Particles and Flocs

For PiE 2025, the following fees will apply:
Attendees: EUR TBC per person.
Spouses: EUR TBC (includes icebreaker, excursion & tour, conference dinner)
Exhibitors: EUR TBC. Includes one attendee. Additional booth personnel will have to register as regular attendees.

Optional field trip in the afternoon, icebreaker in the evening.

Thursday 18th September
1/2 conference day, afternoon science excursion, tour of Bruges, conference dinner in Bruges brewery w/ presentation of the Eva and Yogi Agrawal Award.
Friday 19th September
1/2 conference day, lunch, departure.
Exhibits:
Limited space will be available for up to five companies interested in exhibiting their equipment (tabletop displays). Exhibitor rates will be EUR TBC. This covers a table, a chair, and one 220V AC power outlet. Each Exhibitor will be given the opportunity to introduce their products to the full gathering in a three-minute presentation. - Will there be a virtual component to PiE 2025?
- No. PiE 2025 will be an in-person event only
- Will I get assigned a poster or an oral presentation?
- Depending on the number of abstracts received, the organizers reserve the right to assign some presenters to poster presentations, to short (3-5 minute) oral presentations or to more ‘standard’ 10-15 minute oral presentations. You will be notified upon abstract acceptance.
- When will the website have more updates?
- No later than January 2025.
